2007.12.8 @ 11:21 First let me say that I grew up in PA and so I have a really big soft spot in my heart for this beer. I'll try to be objective and hold back the tears. Pours a very nice relatively clear amber color with a half inch of cream colored head. Decent retention and some lacing. The aroma isn't too impressive, but still decent. Some pale sweet malt giving a bit of a bready tone, as well as a light nuttiness are available. The taste is not exactly awesome, but I still miss it! Not a whole lot going on here, but a bit of pale malt, some nutty character, and not a whole lot else. Really, it's pretty boring. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and fairly highly carbonated. Drinkability is fairly high. It's not a super impressive beer, but it is certainly sessionable and not as offensive as the big 3 IMO. last edited on 2008.11.28 @ 13:49 |
