Places

Seems to work well (no bugs found), but I thought of a few issues/potential improvements:

  • What do you do with beers that are seasonal or when a place runs out of something but will stock it again? That is, any idea for indicating when a beer is available at a place and not just where? (Perhaps an indicator as to "when this beer was last indicated available/unavailable"?)
  • It would be nice to have a way to tag many beers at the same time. (Eg: I've purchased the vast majority of my beer from Sam's Quik Shop, but individually marking them for all the ones I've purchased so far is tedious.)
  • There might be a better place to put one back to when finished indicating that something is available - I had to do a lot of clicking (two per beer, but fewer is better :) ) to indicate where I had purchased a number of beers and I also didn't really expect to be sent to the "beers that available at this place" dialog, though maybe that's just me.

Overall, quite a neat addition.

That's more or less what the little barrels next to the beer listing are meant to do. Over 30 days, they disappear, and then the beer is automatically removed from the menu. They also disappear when people click the "unavailable" button next to them.

I tried a more specific "last seen" indicator, but left it out for two reasons:

  1. I thought it was confusing to have that many dates listed on screen.

  2. It seemed like too much extra complication to have to enter a date when you saw the beer.

But, I don't doubt that there are solutions to both of those problems.

Mmm...again with the complicated entry system. Perhaps a short "my favorite places" list, to make adding beers to them a one-click affair?

Fair enough. Being dropped at that list was intended as feedback to show you that you had succesfully noted the beer on a menu.

A tip, though: adding many beers to a place from the place's page is a bit quicker. Type each beer's name in the box at the bottom of the place's page. If you hit one exactly, the beer is added instantly. If you get close, it will show you a list of near-matches, where you can just click the one you meant.

Thanks for the feedback! You're the first person to see the new stuff without a getting a primer from me first. Fresh eyes are invaluable.
