How do I make my comments looks pretty? (paragraphs, bold, italic, links, etc.)

Our comment system uses a syntax called Markdown. So, if you want to know exactly how to tweak the look of your post, you should go read the basic syntax.

BUT! You really don't need to know all of those details to make nice-looking posts. Just keep this in mind: type up your post like you would type up an email.

Yes, just like you would type an email. Put a blank line between paragraphs. Emphasize text by putting asterisks around it. Add more emphasis with two asterisks, or three. Quote someone by putting a > in front of the quote. Make a list by putting each item on its own line with a dash in front.

The one strange bit is links. To link somewhere, put the name of the link in parentheses, and the address in square brackets. For example, (BeerRiot)[http://beerriot.com/] will show up like this: BeerRiot.

Final tip: use the Preview button. That will show you exactly what your post will look like, and allow you to make changes if you want.

I found a comment that is off-topic, abusive, or otherwise inappropriate - what should I do?

Click the "report" button next to the comment! You'll be presented with a form so you can specify what you think is wrong with it. We'll review it and take action if necessary.

Please understand that we, the administrators of this site, are merely human, so it will take us time to review a comment. Also understand that we are not the thought police. While we prefer that discussion stays on-topic, we'd rather only administrate comments that are truly of an abussive or strictly offensive nature.
