It's been a year in the making, but it has finally arrived: BeerRiot has a new design.
You should notice a barrel of changes around the site, including:
Sort by score. Forget the top-15. If you want to know what your 78-th most highly ranked beer is, sort by score, and flip down five pages.
Improved search. Search has been completely overhauled, and I think it's drastically improved. All results now show up in one list, rather than three that you have to dive in and out of.
Dark text on light backgrounds. I hope the only white-on-black didn't cause too much eye-strain.
Javascript everywhere. It's probably even in place where it's not necessary, but this should lead to a much more dynamic and usable site.
Stability improvements. There were a few parts of the old site (coughLocalcough) that were a little shaky. They should be *much* more reliable now.
I haven't had time to rework the Facebook app, so I've disabled it for the time being. It will probably return sometime, but I don't have a timeline for it yet.
There were a few new features that were discussed in the forums a little while ago, and they didn't quite make this release, but I assure you all that they are on the short list.
Give it a whirl and let me know what you think. If you're interested in knowing more about what went on behind-the-scenes in this release, check out the blog.
